This post has been a long time coming…
So when Simon Glazin of The Very Simon G tweeted ~~this week~~ about a month ago(!) about what to wear for meeting Jackie Collins, there seemed only one answer. Leopard. He tweeted straight back in agreement.
Finally his interview was published in the Sunday Times Style Magazine today so I can post what was going through my mind all that time ago.
Was it the fabulous old French and Saunders sketches (take 7 minutes and see the clip below)?
Or had I somehow remembers this amazing quote?

My weakness is wearing too much leopard print.

Who knew too much leopard existed as a concept?
Perhaps it was this instant image I had in my head…

Whatever drew me to that conclusion, I was there.
And suddenly thought, but what would I wear? The dolls have plenty of leopard but me? Just one snow leopard number. So maybe to be a real Jackie I’d have to hit the shops and buy this perhaps?

Cover Up

No not that kind of cover up, though that is a mighty fine leopard and lime beach cover up. Leopard and lime should really be an ice cream flavour shouldn’t it?
No. The cover up. Not because of yesterday’s nudity. And that star can hardly be counted as much cover.
No. The cover up is what is really being covered up. That is to say… Well… What’s been going on with BOTD? Why the disjointed (more than usual!) postings? Isn’t this a daily blog? What’s happened to my daily email subscriptions? What’s with all the bikinis?
Well I’m sorry. I really am. BOTD is a huge part of my life and takes up a ridonculous amount of time and well it’s August. And unfortunately, just like in the real news, there is a lot less going on on these pages. Post Olympics I feel we’ve had a bit of a dip, not in my faithful readership, thank you all, but in terms of proper news and proper postings. It is not helped by the fact that it is a billion degrees in BOTD Towers so getting under the studio lights is a trial. The heat, and our general location by the sea, is what keeps us in swimwear, not to mention the fact that if you looked like the dolls, you would wear little else too.
But!
There are some very exciting things coming up. I’m halfway through a new music video. September is just around the corner and with it, Fashion Week, the MTV Video Awards and a whole host of exciting changes coming to Barbie of the Day
Stick with us. Because we’re worth it.

Only Girl In The World

Rihanna took to the stage last night in Hackney in her usual crazy get up. I love the shades. A lot. I think I might have to do a post just about the dolls’s sunglasses collection. I’m pretty sure these are by A-morir. I’ll check the website while you look at her picture….

Can’t find them. but I’ll keep looking for you. I did however find this amazing clip of Beyoncé putting on some A-morir specs…

But what did you think of her outfit? Rihanna’s. Not Beyoncé.
Flat shoes are rare at BOTD Towers but we made a special exception.

Yeah. I love those specs. Ooh hang on here is an old picture of her in A-morir glasses, dressed as me…

If I say A-morir again do you think they will send me a free pair?

What Is Up With This Weather?

The dolls are having an even harder time choosing what to wear than normal. One moment it’s sun sun sun, short flirty dresses and big bug eye glasses. The next, it’s arctic blasts, cashmere pullovers and boyfriend jeans.
Well fortunately we bought this fabulous coat in the sales. We were worried it might have to stay in the closet until next winter but today is pretty breezy so it’s the perfect cover up. We have an exciting rendezvous at La Poste. I hope it’s not Victoria returning our birthday gift already? Fingers crossed for something wonderful for the dolls.
I know what you’re thinking. All fur coat and no knickers, right? Wrong! How do you think we have such a great relationship with the postman!?

Still Waiting

She’s still preggers! Despite reports that she’d popped out a little girl over New Year, Beyoncé is definitely still pregnant. First she was seen in our Brooklyn neighborhood for NYE and now Queen B has been spotted out and about rubbing her belly in Manhattan. She must be nearly ready to pop. Definitely not a cushion. Definitely not.

Deck the Halls

Dressing up the tree is almost as fun as dressing up for a party so today at BOTD we’ve got our baubles out (!) to get in the party mood. A slinky leopard print pencil skirt doesn’t offer much room for maneuver when it comes to sticking a fairy on top, but after a couple of glasses of Christmas spirit we will be up that ladder and ready to give our tree a proper BOTD makeover. Hic!

We thought that a wine coloured scarf would keep us warm yesterday, but it turned out that red wine itself was a much more practical insulator. We may have a slightly fuzzy head but a few bubbles should clear that up. A fabulous pair of gold heels and a slinky leopard dress make the perfect combination for a night in front of the X Factor, don’t you think?
