Glamour Puss

How glamorous is this shot?
It’s a blinged up version of something seen in the BOTD 2012 Calendar. Today’s the big day. My shoot with Annabelle Moller for BOTD 2013. The dolls are ready. Nails painted. Hair backcombed to within an inch of its life. Make up plastered and mascara flicked. Pyrotechnics? Quite possibly.

The American Dream

The New York dream to be a bit more specific.
You know when you wake up and you can’t quite believe you’re not waking up where you thought you would be waking up?
Well this morning I woke up in the South of France expecting to be in NYC.
I wanna be a part of it…
I didn’t even have cheese last night. Must have been the trout that made me dream of the Big Apple. Oh I wish I could get on the bus and go this morning. And that it would take 40 minutes… and cost one euro.

Snow Day

You know how it is. You plan a post around an event and along comes another to throw you off track. The joys of having a daily site. Don’t say we’re not current!
So this morning was going to be all about my friend Madge who is performing at some game thing tonight. I had to ask when she mentioned it to me because as far as I was aware a super bowl was something you whisked super eggs in. Anyway. I texted her this morning to tell her we were having a change of plan and would she mind if I postponed the post about her new video until she’d actually performed at this game thing. Bla bla. Due to inclement weather. Bla bla. She wasn’t best pleased but whatevs. Here’s an amazing picture of Amber in the snow instead.

I love this outfit so much I will reshoot it in the warmth of the studio at a later date but she looked so cosy, I felt it totally necessary to make her stand in gladiator sandals in the snow. Sorry, Amber and soz, Madge.

Faking It

A recent trend in invitations is the addition of “Dress Warm”. In the case of this week’s Viktor and Rolf event it was because we were kidnapped and taken to a slightly chillier venue, but equally surprise fireworks displays and rooftop performances have meant that the dolls have had to wrap up since we’ve been in London. But with a body like this why would you ever get dressed? The answer it seems is all in the perfect cover up. Madison, like La Lopez, has always loved her furs and with a red carpet event tonight we’ve taken inspiration from J.Lo to stay warm in front of the paps. We’re faking it in faux fur of course and if you want to do the same take a look at our picks below.

All White on the Night

White stilettos. Once upon a lifetime they were a byword for Essex girls but nowadays it seems you’re more likely to see a Louboutin on the cast of TOWIE than a white patent sandal. I think they may be due a revival in 2012 so Madison is glamming it up in her winter whites and these strappy gladiator platforms. Having stolen a pair of white jeans from Liz Hurley and thrown on her trusty fur, she’s ready to face the winter blast. My favourite white shoe moment is, of course, in Serial Mom, where the fabulous Kathleen Turner murders a member of the jury with a pay phone for wearing white after Labour Day. Keep an eye out for her, Madison!

New York New York

Start spreading the news, we’re leaving today! Well that’s it. Our American adventure has flown by and it’s finally time to get on (another) plane and say goodbye to the States. We’ve had great fun with great friends and met plenty of new ones along the way. It has been an incredible trip with some incredible memories. Searching for cocktails in Disneyland, attacked by homophobic killer bees in the desert, birds in cow suits in Sonoma, a very Gaga Thanksgiving. And we’ll always have New York!

Brooklyn Hot Mess

What is wrong with this picture? All the yellow? The Mariah Glitter era boots? Madison wearing her fur, again!? Or the fact that Amber is wearing flat shoes? Converse no less! Being in the USA has done something to the dolls shopping skills. Most of the stuff we get in Europe is bought online after careful consideration. Here the girls have gone wild picking up anything and everything in their paths. We came to the States with a capsule wardrobe (which is why you keep seeing Madison in her fur, plus it’s chilly in NYC). But the closet is expanding as rapidly as Beyoncé’s bump, with dozens of pairs of shoes, bags and sunglasses being added. So excuse the odd, pink heeled Timberlands because the next day may bring these amazing bondage Mary Janes worn with fierce leopard print tights. And although the dolls are as famous as Mrs Beckham for never wearing flats, sometimes hiking round Brooklyn (the neighbourhood as opposed to her son) requires a pair of Cons over a pair of Louboutins.

Speaking of shopping. I’ve just made it easier to purchase the new BOTD 2012 calendars. You can click HERE or at the top of the page under BOTD Goodies to pay directly with PayPal. Happy shopping!

Hot Fuzz

Ok so it’s a million degrees here at BOTD Towers but we are always looking forward to the next season. Trying on clothes in the height of summer is never fun, especially when those clothes are hats and coats and scarves, but we live by the motto “Be Prepared” You never know when you might have a last minute arctic photo call.
