A Stylish Birthday

Sunday mornings wouldn’t be Sunday mornings without a big cup of coffee and the Sunday Times Style magazine. It is a tradition I have maintained for the last ten years in different homes, in different cities around the world. When I lived in Paris I would receive the magazine a week late, sent from my mum when I realised it wasn’t included in the international edition. Thank goodness for the iPad edition. Now I can pick it up wherever in the world I happen to be (so jetset, dear readers). And today marks Style’s tenth anniversary, so along with various designers and supermodels we’ve made our own birthday card to say thank you for a fabulously fashionable, wonderful wake up call for the last ten years.

Team G.B(OTD)

It’s here at last. The 2012 Olympics. I’m ridiculously over excited and crazily over emotional. I have no idea why but every time I see the torch or the stadium I want to burst into tears. Maybe time to come off the painkillers.
Danny Boyle had asked the dolls to be involved in the opening ceremony but BOTD had to decline. Naked flames and hairspray is a very dangerous combination.

MmmmMagnum

Ice cream gurus at Magnum are jumping on the pop-up bandwagon with a new concept store at Westfield Stratford, where you can create your very own Magnum ice cream. Head to the deliciously decadent Magnum bar to enjoy Magnum inspired cocktails and deserts in the stylish pleasure lounge and experience the ‘Magnum Infinity Pleasure Pod’ curated by renowned culinary architects, Bompas & Parr.

I love it when you stumble across something amazing through Twitter. I heard about Magnum’s amazing pop up ice cream pod at Westfield Stratford, from Beauty and the Dirt. Like everyone I check in on my fave sites and blogs pretty regularly but somehow I missed this amazing news on their site so its a good job i saw the tweet!
I’m desperate to hop over and create a BOTD Magnum and chill out in the Magnum Lounge having Magnum flavoured cocktails.
Can you get pink chocolate? Or should it be edible brown glitter? (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it tastes the same as regular glitter!) Apparently you can throw in a bit of chilli or popping candy but I think I’d go for something dark with a bit of honeycomb. Much like Beyoncé’s amazing chocolate Crunchie couture confection above.
What would be in your personalised Magnum?

Cut Cut Couture

20120703-085450.jpg

Makeover Monday at BOTD Towers today. How do we have time for a haircut at the start of couture week, I hear you ask? And how have we had time to redecorate BOTD Towers in a Paul Smith stripe? And wait! What’s this? Amber in a pair of wedges? Wedges!
Well first things first, the haircut was a bit of a spontaneous move. I’ll add the twitpics of the process at the bottom of this post perhaps. As BOTD regulars will know, having a dramatic cut can get you hired or fired on Barbie of the Day’s pages but equally it can signify a head transplant is imminent. You know how it is. Plus Amber is notorious for her major surgical procedures, giving her an entirely new face. She didn’t rise to the top of this site without having had a lot of work done.
How do I look this young? I sleep in the deep freeze!
Which brings us to Donatella Versace who presented the most amazing collection at the Ritz in Paris last night. So many things to say but not enough time today and I’d rather do it properly. In the meantime check out the office. What do you think?

And the wedges! Why the hell have I put all these things into one post? Well they definitely deserve a discussion of their own. Stay tuned, doll lovers.

The Lace Race

I was too busy thinking about Cleopatra yesterday to mention that girl married to that prince guy was turning 30. Ok. Ok I get it. She’s a princess. But she’s young and sexy. People say she wears too much eye make up but in BOTD world there is no such thing as too much. I just wish she would sex it up a bit. She’s got great legs. Swishy hair. She’s sample size. Somebody throw some Donatella at the girl.

No Longer Waiting

I knew this picture from the Hollywood Walk of Fame would come in handy.
Clearly pissed off at my suggestion yesterday that Beyoncé was still faking her pregnancy, she decided to throw my scheduled post off course (sorry David Bowie) by giving birth at last. After reading Saturday’s Barbie of the Day, she hopped in a cab/helicopter/hovercraft to the Upper East Side where she taped up the security cameras in the hospital. She was then seen throwing pagers out the window, telling MCI to cut the phone poles, breaking her lease so she could move wards to ensure a ban on all bug a boos. It’s even rumored she put my number on a call block and told AOL to make my emails stop… Anyway. Eventually she has given birth to a baby girl. A child of Destiny, Blue Ivy Carter. Congratulations to the happy couple… And Happy Birthday to David Bowie.

Desert Diva

Never let it be said that BOTD doesn’t do it’s best for you. Not only have we hiked up a mountain with an enormous chocolate couture confection, we also managed to drag our wind machine with us (never travel without one). If you’ve ever tried posing in the wind, up a mountain wearing a dress as big as your car you’ll know what a stellar job Amber is doing.

Where Am I?

There is nothing like waking up in a park, dressed in fabulous couture, with a pounding head and no idea how you got there. Such is life at BOTD Towers. A wild weekend and a teensy tiny bit of a hangover. It would appear we’ve slept too late to make it to church so if we can find our handbag, I’m sure a slick of lipstick and a pair of Wayfarers could take this morning-after look through to lunch.
