A flash of colour on this vintage piece of Barbie of the Day couture. I found this picture on my old laptop from BOTD’s Paris days and as you can see it hasn’t dated. Perfectly wearable today. The genius of a classic.
Before you ask, it is just simply too warm to put a shirt on today. I know, I know. Its not getting any cooler and yet here we are squeezing into a pair of leather trousers for today’s extra hot BOTD, but we can’t resist. Style over sensibility!
I was just flicking through some old photos I’ve transferred to the iPad and came across this little gem. Some of the old school BOTD beauties working on an America’s Next Top Model (Mo-doll?) shoot. I love the makeover episodes when the hottest girls have to do a GI Jane and cry and then Mr J is all, “get over yourself!”
This has got to be the ideal Jessica Rabbit dress. Despite her skinny frame the dress is designed to show off the va va voom curves of this stunning redhead. Perfect to flash the flesh at the fruit market or for a kick about in the park.
Going back to BOTDs roots today with a bit of high fashion. My earliest creations were labeled “slutty funeral chic” which I find rather delicious. And today, of all days seems like the perfect occasion to celebrate the art of Little Black Dressing in a slutty funeral style.
Another beautiful day so another beautiful dress. Once upon a hundred years ago Keira Knightly showed up on a red carpet looking like a Tracey Emin installation, draped in what appeared to be a pile of bedding. The critics were not impressed but I have to say I loved it. Very Grecian Goddess, all drapes and plaits, Angelina in Alexander. From red carpet to fruit market in one swift BOTD thought process.
So England are out of the World Cup. Oh well! At least it’s deliciously warm. Time to strip off and enjoy the sun. In sympathy BOTD has chosen a red strip. Unlucky for some. I wouldn’t advise red at Wimbledon, Mr Murray.
It’s like all my prayers were answered. “Kylie, please wear more thigh boots.” And boy did she rock it last night at Glastonbury. Performing with the uber glam Scissor Sisters in a skimpy lace leotard with matching cape, she looked every inch the pop princess that she is. Kylie, we’ve missed you!
