Omg I just spied this Audrey doll on a collectors’ site.
My friend Kitty would love this!
Who wouldn’t?
It’s her birthday today.
Audrey’s.
Not Kitty’s.
Audrey has a couple of Barbies designed in her likeness…

20130503-223732.jpg
I’m still working on my Kitty doll….

20130503-225820.jpg

20130503-225828.jpg
It’s also Kimora’s birthday today!
I’ve spoken before about how much I love her doll…

20130503-224533.jpg
#chinchilla
#thighboot

Turns out today is a great day to have a bday if you want a doll designed in your likeness.
Anyone else?

20130503-224719.jpg
Sorry, Lance Bass. It may be your birthday but you can join Kate Garraway and Hosni Mubarak in the birthday doll queue…

20130503-224841.jpg
Oh FFS!
May the fourth be with you!

Erm…

20130301-225646.jpg
You want an Oscars dress don’t you?
I started doing some copies and then got distracted.
Then I had a meeting..
Then an interview…
Then a lunch.
This is all really good for me.
Maybe not for you.
Maybe not for the dolls but for me…..

The Oscars

What an exciting night….

20130225-163748.jpg
Not that exciting Annie! Les Nipplerables!

Did you stay up?

It was late, wasn’t it? Way past my bedtime. I made it through most of the red carpet but then passed out at the sewing machine drifted off.

Is it time for some alternative awards from the BOTD Academy?

Okay.

Best Reunion surely goes to the cast of Chicago. An infinitely shorter better film than Les Mis.

20130225-164129.jpg
Aww don’t they all look cute. And happy. And like they’re still friends? And like they’re all asking what happened to their careers post that movie?

Moving on… Oh hang on not really moving on as CZJ and Renee are up for the next award.

Best Oscar Statuette Impersonation…

20130225-165124.jpg
Heidi, the clear winner. I loved this dress. Julian McDonald. So sexy and heavy looking and amazebling.

Best in red Valentino?

20130225-170834.jpg

20130225-170842.jpg
Sally Field Vs Jen Aniston. A toughy. I would actually have liked to see them swap dresses. Jen could have handled the froth and Sally would have looked better in something more simple.

Best in Black and White…

20130225-171056.jpg

How beautiful is Zoe Saldana in this Alexis Mabille number? Girl! This is couture! I hated the belt and bows. I think he has a slight bow addiction. That’s okay though. He can get help for it. I love that she wore the complete runway look though.
I kinda loved Kelly Poundland’s Donna Karan dress. For her. It’s a bit X Factor for me but she looks pretty and she does get to walk away with the Best in Destiny’s Child award. Neither Michelle Williams were there. How weird? #PoorMichelle
And HBC in Dame Viv. Yeah. I’ve seen it before. She was one of the best things in Les Miserables but one of the worst things on the red carpet. It’s the Oscars, love. Do your hair! I mean could anyone look more hedge+backwards+dragged=rough?

20130225-171928.jpg

Erm. Meanwhile. Best in Weave has to go to J.Hud!

20130225-172041.jpg
Loved this Roberto Cavalli frock. Great shade and shimmer!

Best All White on the Night…

20130225-175734.jpg
I love that Charlize and Miley are wearing versions of my hair. I really want Miley’s hair. I think I had it and lost it and leant it to her and she won’t give it back. Give it back, Miley. GIVE IT BAAAAAACK!!
And Kelly looked nice.

Best Clutch?

20130225-180129.jpg
Obviously!

Best in High Street?

20130225-180210.jpg
Helen Hunt in H&M. Really? Yes really! Really? Nobody would lend you a dress? Nice bling, Helen, where’s it from? Claire’s Accessories?
Oh, hi, I’m Helen. Oh, you’re from Milwaukee? Oh, I’m sorry. Oh, have you met my friend Lillian, oh I know we’ve only known eachother for five minutes, oh….

Best Pretending To Be on the Phone to Avoid Wolverine?

20130225-180806.jpg

Best in Turning Back Time?

20130225-181011.jpg
Alas it’s not Cher. Jane Fonda aka J.Fonz (or at least I’m gonna try that out as her new name) was cryogenically frozen in the seventies and is defrosted now and again to appear on red carpets around the globe. She looked absolutely incredible in canary yellow Versace. It is possibly my favourite look of the night, along with Zoe Saldana and someone called Olivia Munn in Marchesa.

20130225-181423.jpg
But back to J.Fonz I love her balls to wear a) something so Versace and b) something so… Yellow.
J.Fonz also beat Solange Knowles to Best in Yellow.

20130225-182027.jpg

Best “You Think You’re So Cool With Your Oscar But Before You Know It You Will Be Doing A Batman Movie, Oh Wait You Done That Already? #Awkward” Award…

20130225-191415.jpg

Best Barbra Str-Aniston…

20130225-202643.jpg

Best in Barbie…

20130225-203019.jpg
Woah! Shamazedolls.

Best in Terrible Brand Management by A Designer I Continue To Have No Respect For That Couldn’t Choose A Brand Ambassador For Toffee…

It’s j.Law.

20130225-204723.jpg

Charming!
It’s not about you, Jennifer. It’s really about Raf and its probably not even about him- it is about him. I’m sure you’re a great actress. I will try and see your films. You’ve got an Oscar. Well done. But you cannot walk in a dress. How f**g hard is it to walk in a dress?

20130225-210131.jpg
Really?
Everyone manages. Every time. Except for you….

And breathe.

It was lovely to see them all looking so gorgeous. Thanks to Style.com for most of the images. I didn’t even crop out your captions.
Doll dresses to follow but in the meantime we have one last award…

Lee Lovin’

20130224-114234.jpg
So it’s taken all week but I thought I better fill you all in on what me and Beyoncé were up to at the Savoy last weekend.
It was of course Fashion Week related rather than ‘she asked me to direct her new music video.’
We were invited along to the lovely Lee Paton’s Autumn Winter presentation.
Here’s a delicious picture of Lee in the Independent last week…

20130224-122336.jpg

He loves pheasants.
Who doesn’t?

I met Lee at the Elle Style Awards last year.
At the Savoy. Fancy.
He is so handsome.
This year he invited me to his show.
At the Savoy. Fancy!
There were macaroons. Fashion macaroons. They looked like they might have been soap in super chic boxes. I debated with my friend Andrew and my new FBFF (that’s Fashion Best Friend Forever or at least FBFFW-Fashion Best Friend for Fashion Week) Katia whether or not we were allowed to eat/bathe with them.

This is us debating. Look at Katia’s white shirt. Crisp.

20130224-204219.jpg

And then the show began!
The first look was an amazing embellished number. It looks like I’m ignoring the model but I was tweeting the shoes. Look how engrossed Andrew is!

20130224-114053.jpg
He was clearly bedazzled. It was a great opening look. And perfect in the setting of the hotel. Crisp.

20130224-205340.jpg

20130224-204518.jpg
We look confused at this one.
But then this appeared!

20130224-205557.jpg
I believe I made a little Tippi Hedren shriek at this point.

20130224-205608.jpg
It was so elegant. So glamorous and old school yet totally modern. I was in love. I was trying to decide at this point if there were any pheasants in Hitchcock’s The Birds but then another dress came out….

20130224-114102.jpg
How crisp!?!
I would wear this to your wedding. With a pheasant on my head.
So cute but wait….

20130224-114159.jpg
My slutty alter-ego just entered the room! And she looks #shamazeballs
I would totes wear this to your wedding. Or with black pants to your funeral.
Shame there’s nothing to wear to the Academy Awards though….

20130224-210444.jpg
Oh Mr Paton! Now you’re really spoiling me.
Clearly our minds were in the same place when I put Beyoncé’s feathered jacket on and Barbie’s dress at this year’s Elle Style Awards was not a million miles off.
What an amazing show! What an amazing morning!
I love feathers!
Thanks for having me.

All photos by Krisztián Pintér. Except the one of Beyoncé up top. That was taken by me. With a fashion macaroon in one hand. It was cardamom flavour by the way.

Elle Style Awards

20130212-145936.jpg
I was once again lucky enough to be invited to the Elle Style Awards last night, which after what happened last year, was a delightful surprise.
I dressed up to the nines in the skinniest of suits with Barbie stuffed in my butch clutch on my arm, to join the most fashionable fashionistas on the red carpet.
Barbie wore a couture gown I ran up yesterday afternoon painstakingly crafted in my atelier over a period of months, by 8 blind Belgian nuns. The latex meets feather combo was sure to make her stand out on the red carpet.
You can check out all the winners over at the Elle website but I know you are much more interested in who was there and of course what they were wearing….

20130212-142205.jpg
Let’s start with the best, shall we? The gorgeous Kate Hudson. Who are you wearing, Kate?

20130212-142339.jpg
Stella! Of course.

20130212-142521.jpg
Ooh Naomie Harris in Roksanda Ilincic. Yum!
There were lots of designers there. Well. Everyone really. Roksanda Ilincic herself, Giles, Christopher Kane, Nicholas Kirkwood, Henry Holland (of course).
Henry looked amazing actually. He was wearing pyjamas bottoms which were gorgeous. I nearly wore something similar. That would have been awkward.

20130212-142943.jpg
Disappointingly nobody was photographed with the dolls this year though Sophie Ellis Bextor really wanted to. She was lovely as she always is. So is her hubby. We run into each other a lot and do that “I know you but not really” look. No restraining order necessary.

20130212-143348.jpg
Winkleman was there. She’s bonk. So is Ronnie Wood. If I had worn my pyjama bottoms they would have looked amazing with his jacket.

20130212-143450.jpg
Ooh there is Christopher Kane. A funny story…. Lawyers removed it. Will send it to Popbitch maybe.
He’s with Elizabeth Olsen. Everyone’s favourite Olsen. Maybe.
And that other woman is called Gwendoline. She is enormous. Taller than me. That would have been a great picture, her and Barbie. But she was cray cray so I didn’t get too close. I saw her licking one of the awards. Great tongue.

20130212-143835.jpg
Erdem and his sister.
Giles Decon with legend, Kristen McMenamy. LEGEND. I wanted to shout that at her.
But I didn’t.
I wanted to ask her to star in a BOTD shoot with the dolls.
But I didn’t.
Giles was wearing spots. I told him I liked his spotty suit and scarf combo but was he not cold without socks. He told me he wasn’t and that he liked my blackwatch suit.
Aw. Group shot with that girl from Downton. Shame you can’t see Giles’ spotty outfit.

Matthew Williamson. He looked great. Here he is holding a light that he stole borrowed from the Nails Inc nail bar. Ooh there was a nail bar. I had my nails done. It will probably get its own post but it was fun. Orla did my nails. She’s not on Twitter. How weird? But I’m sure we will become best friends. Limited choice of black or white (’twas a bit of a theme) and it was leather nail varnish. I have white leather nails. I posted them on Twitter. Orla will never see them! Shame. Ooh I’ll instagram them… Or even post it below. Hang on…
Ooh there were more spots downstairs.

20130212-144935.jpg

20130212-144951.jpg
Close up on my leather nails. Amazenails. Look at the little Chanel logo on my pinky. So cute. But hard. Hard as nails. But softened with cuteness and gay cocktail glass. Empty glass….
Many empty glasses later me and Kate Hudson got the number 23 bus home with our goody bags.
Thanks for having us Elle. See you at Fashion Week!

The GraFTAs

See what I did there?
Busy busy busy.
Don’t be mad.
Did you watch the BAFTAs?
And the Grammys?
Was it me or were the BAFTAs a total yawnfest?
This was the best bit…

20130213-102847.jpg
Aww I love Marion.
And that dress.
The only dress I really liked from Raf’s couture show actually.

20130213-103616.jpg
Reminded me of this…

20130213-103728.jpg

20130213-103735.jpg
Now I know you would love to see a million dresses recreated in miniature but I’m on a deadline with another job and I have to dress myself and at least one doll for the Elle Style Awards tonight.
Plus I have to mentally prepare myself for telling SJP that her trouser suit was a mistake, presuming she turns up, and also to tell Annie Hathaway how much I love her hair/want to be her/that we share a florist-ish.
In the meantime…
Here are the (non sartorial) highlights…. I crack myself up.

20130213-104319.jpg

Awards Awards Awards

20130210-224907.jpg
The awards season caravan rolls into town this weekend. Not only is it the BAFTAs tonight, it is (more importantly?) the Elle Style Awards tomorrow night. Who will be wearing what to what?
(More importantly) What will I be wearing to what? Or at the very least what will the dolls be wearing?
Handily, the people over at Barbie Collector have come up with this handy awards ceremony set for about $20.
A bit of binging jewellery, some floor length couture with matching heels, a sparkly (award sized) clutch.
How fabulicious?
And how might one look in this ensemble?

20130211-095634.jpg
Not too shabby.
FYI this is my exact new hair (but not skin) colour. And not stripy!
I am of course still working on my own outfit but you better believe all will be revealed soon!

SAG in the Bag

It’s the morning after the SAG before. Yes, doll lovers. Another weekend, another awards ceremony. Just one step closer to the BAFTAs and the Oscars are in sight.
Time for a red carpet round up?
Okay!
Rather than spoil you with best dressed and worst dressed awards, I’m gonna talk trends. Not the oh so crazy trend of monochrome, which certain newspapers are talking about. Wearing black to the least “exciting” of the awards shows is not news, people. Yes there were a lot of black dresses and a few interesting choices in white (Sofia Vergara!) but let’s look at some proper emerging trends from a doll’s eye view.
A micro trend. But very doll friendly. It’s

    Pink

Lovely. The navy blue of India.

20130129-100007.jpg
Now I have to admit that I don’t know one of these girls. Obviously I know the lovely (Princess) Lea Michele from Glee in Valentino. And Frida Pinto in a kinda bubblegum number but that other chick? No idea but I used her to make three a trend. Moving on..

    In The Navy

OMG. It’s not black it’s blue.

20130129-091321.jpg

20130129-091424.jpg
What a refreshing change! Okay it’s not lime green but it was nice to see those crazy risk takers in something else.
My girl crush, Marion Cotillard looked adorably chic in Dior (no surprises there). Combien de cute? And that Amanda girl from Les Mis looked perfectly lovely.
And Jen Lawrence. I’m experimenting with Jen. I don’t see it catching on. She wore Dior too. Which is (just maybe) a sign she will do the same for the Academy Awards. Also, let’s note that Marion and Jen have both worn the same hue and designer twice in a row. Remember the tabasco coloured, belted dresses at the Golden Globes? Is this coincidence? Bad styling? People at Dior not speaking to each other?
Now I should say that I’ve never seen Miss Lawrence in a film. I can’t say I’m a fan. Even if there is a Hunger Games Barbie. We’ve been at the same party but that is not the same. She looked nice at that party. She looked about my age. She is 22 apparently. That is not my age. This dress was equally ageing. And sorry. I know I’m supposed to love Raf but I just think its a bit bla. I thought both the Paris shows were a bit bla. There. I’ve said it. It’s out there. Anyway. The dress… Reports about it ripping seem a little bonkers. It clearly didn’t rip. she clearly hitched it up to go upstairs.

20130129-095352.jpg
It clearly didn’t fit her. The chances of her having had a proper fitting in Paris? I’m just saying. This is not how I work and I can’t imagine Galliano just sending out dresses willy nilly without proper fittings. Anyway. If you’re going to construct a hideously heavy silk dress in layers like this, then you need to make the layers underneath thinner otherwise it will be all sticky outy – a fashion term I learnt from Christian Dior himself, clearly. So we put in these little layers holding it all together. And these little layers are made from something thin, maybe transparent. A bit like this…

20130129-095227.jpg
See how she has lifted that up to show you? So classy. Anyway…. Shall we move on?
Okay.

    Sheer

Wait haven’t we just done sheer panelling? Nope this is a different trend. Let’s talk sheer boobs…

20130129-095616.jpg
Name those boobs!
Go on. It’s fun.

20130129-095820.jpg
Kelly Osbourne looked great in Jenny Packham but I’m pretty sure will wear Zac Posen again to the Oscars. Her boobs looked fantastic. As did January Jones. Bad hair and make up alert but great dress alert. We will let her off simply because she wore Prabal Gurung someone you never see, championed on these red carpets but you should. Well done, January. Now go wash your hair!
More bad hair from Nicole Kidman who looked actually quite sensational in Westwood. Not a designer I would put her together with at all but the dress was gorgeous. She didn’t look too “Nicole” and drawn. She looked like she was having fun. I hate her hair this length though. You can only have it straight when it’s another two inches. Sorry but these are my rules. Curly is fine. Potentially gorgeous. Though maybe a bit busy with the frock. But this hair looks like I drew it on when I was 8 rather than how hair is supposed to look.
Anne Hathaway. Bla bla bla. She only scraped into this sheer boob section by chance. I’m guessing Valentino for the Oscars but this Giambattista Valli number was nice.
I’m going to leave the celebrity sagging boobs at the SAG Awards jokes to Joan Rivers but best sheer boob action is a tie breaker between Michelle Dockery…

20130129-101341.jpg
Woah! Sheer side boob. Lovely.
And…
Naya Rivera…

20130129-101521.jpg
Double woah!
Close up, anyone?

20130129-102037.jpg
Sheer front boob! Even better!

And so ends my (bonkers?) red carpet review of the SAG Awards. Don’t forget to tune in in two weeks for the BAFTAs from here in Londontown and tomorrow for an all new Doll’s Diary.

Tweed Indeed

20130125-182347.jpg
Tweed Indeed Barbie, designed by BOTD fave (and former Project Runway contestant) is possibly my favourite doll of all time. Or certainly my fave outfit. And look at that bag! If Miuccia and Marc didn’t copy that for all those Miu Mius and Stams then I don’t know where they got their inspiration.
Oh wait, maybe Chanel?!
In fact Tweed Indeed is clearly inspired by Chanel when you look at her. And who doesn’t love a Chanel suit?

20130125-183914.jpg
Which brings us neatly (kinda) to the Chanel show yesterday which featured… You guessed it and if you didn’t then you are clearly crazy) tweed suits! Little bouclé jackets. Lovely button. Stella Tennant. Pearls (probably). Actually I didn’t see any pearls. Or bags. No bags at all, it was all about the new odd shoulder shape instead. And feathers. I love feathers. And florals! And florals and feathers combined. Look at this.

20130125-183507.jpg
Does that scream Anna Wintour or what? I mean obviously without the roots. But the dress. Totes! And that make up isn’t very Anna. But it is very Barbie of the Day!

20130125-184725.jpg

20130125-184848.jpg
Oh and Lindsey Wixson was there too.

20130125-184942.jpg
I love her!
Mainly because she looks like a doll.

20130125-185208.jpg
I’m sorry I haven’t written more about couture week. I will try and do a review over the weekend. There have been so woah baby woah and some no baby no moments so I will fill you in with what I’ve loved and what didn’t set me on fire but maybe needed to be set on fire.

Snow Business?

20130117-101221.jpg
I was kinda hoping for a snow day today. Just to really shock the system. When we finally got back to the UK late last night it was -5. Chilly!
Certainly too chilly to wear a plunging emerald chiffon couture number anyway.
The snow is coming tomorrow I’m told. Amazesnowballs! Can’t wait.
Are the sales still on? Do they even end any more? Time to go buy a new coat methinks. And maybe nip to HMV while I’m out. Wait have I missed something?
