And so to work…
No bank holiday for us, here in France… Well we had ours last Wednesday… And another one this Wednesday… And one on Thursday in Monaco… But you know. We all work really hard!
It may be sunny outside but the dolls have got on their Monday best, to start the week properly at BOTD Towers.
Office chic doesn’t have to be boring but somehow the dolls have stepped away from their usual slutty funeral chic and opted for something… Well a bit too sensible. Obviously not one of them thought to put their hair up but even so. I might have to insist on Bikini Tuesday tomorrow.
Summer is here. Officially the start of the summer. It says. Somewhere.
What happened to spring?
Did I oversleep?
I guess it just got lost in the rain.
But it’s sunny today. So it must be summer.
I’m wearing shorts! Not short shorts (yet) but shorts nonetheless.
I might do a bikini shoot this afternoon.
In the meantime here is an amazing summery outfit….
Actually shot back in January in Egypt (spot the Nile in the background).
I was just cleaning my camera out and found a stash of amazing photos. As you know I go through phases of taking a million(ish) photos in a day, then having a draught, doing maybe one shoot all week.
Can’t believe I missed this baby!
A good start to the summer, no?
So in case you didn’t get the memo. I’m heading to Londontown.
It’s winter all of a sudden here at BOTD Towers which means it’s time to pack our bags and head off on a winter trip.
Last year I did the BOTD USA Tour (mine and the dolls first time) and the dolls spent their second Christmas (my third.. Or was it fourth?) in Egypt.
Anyway. Egypt is on the cards again. Nothing says Christmas Day quite like going to the gym then lounging by the pool all day and popping out for a shish tawouk in the evening, if you know what I mean.
But first! London Baby. Time to check into the BOTD London office, hit up some Xmas parties and maybe look for a little work in January. Network network network, darlings!
As you know the dolls are used to wearing very little here on the Riviera, but as we discovered in Berlin last week, sometimes a little cover up is necessary. Everyone on Twitter is telling me how chilly it is. But with bikinis to pack for Egypt, bling to pack for festive parties and potential fashiony interview outfits to consider for January, our travel wardrobe is looking a little crazy…
Imagine squeezing all those boxes into that tiny wheely case!
So after last week’s return to the classic look Barbie of the Day, this week, well… I can’t help myself. Barbie of the Day was always about, well, a Barbie of the Day. It’s a stupid commitment I know. Don’t blame me. Three years ago (!) I was just a boy playing with dolls, dressing, styling and taking photos. Who knew that was a blog in the making?
So I have always strived to give you a different doll every day, whether it’s a story in the press, in fashion, in music and yes, even in politics (no Jimmy Savile Barbie, here, folks!) and in the last year whatever has been going on in my own life too (yeah, I know, the boring posts).
So when I said two weeksa month ago in this post…The Lost Weekend (see how I updated it?) that I needed a break, or that I wanted a break, nobody was surprised and my inbox wasn’t filled with too many complaints.
But it’s weird.
So I picked up my camera. Grabbed a bag of clothes, a bag of fabrics, some pins and some hairspray (why there aren’t hairspray ads on this site I’ll never know) and decided to fill in the gaps.
Which is mad I know. But retrospective is the new black.
If you subscribe, then you are, of course, fabulous, and you may have been getting a few updates albeit on a slightly odd time frame. Normal service will be resumed as of soon.
If you don’t subscribe (what is wrong with you?) it’s really easy, just fill in your email in that box on the side up there somewhere. In the meantime you can scroll back to see if you missed anything. In the unlikely event that you have something better to do, you can click on these tantalising links below….
Back to Fashion Week and Hedi Slimane’s debut at Yves Saint Laurent. He turned out a really nice collection. Nothing that shook me to my core, I must admit but lots of classic YSL shapes and looks; a bit of sahara chic, big sexy pussy bows (!), a touch of leopard and of course… Le Smoking!
What started as a drunken brilliant idea, turned into a serious commitment, producing daily dolly shots not to mention creating the clothes, doing the hair and make up, finding locations, sourcing props, editing the photos, writing high-larious copy to accompany each shot.
Endless photo shoots with so many top mo-dolls.
Cool collaborations with photographers and other bloggers. Support from my HandPicked family. More makeup than all of Essex. A ridonculous amount of backcombing, hair extensions, hairspray and wind machines. A footwear collection to rival SJP and more couture than Daphne Guinness.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported the site, followed me on Twitter, left comments, sent me tiny Louboutins, offered me advice, offered me dolls….
So I was a little bit in love with this look from Raf’s first ready to wear collection for Dior….
I mean, really, how beautiful?
Sexy but not. Matronly? Classic Dior but not. Mad Men but not. Flattering but not. All fur coat but no knickers? Well you know what I mean.
He turned out some other amazing stuff as well of course…
Super gorgeous super heroes!
And as for this….
The race is on to see which Hollywood star will wear this first. I think it’s delicious. I’d wear it to your wedding!
But the jackets…
To die for! Perfect for a slutty office, like BOTD Towers, or general slutty funeral chic….
Or for upstaging brides…
Back to school! Back to work!
Judging by the weather this morning at BOTD Towers, the holidays really are over.
Fortunately we are using this as an excuse to go through our winter wardrobe. Who cares if this is just a weather blip and it will be beach weather by Thursday, we want to look at some hats coats and scarves.
And to take a closer look we are wearing our brand new spectacles. What do you think? Very Tom Ford Eyewear, non?
Looks like they couldn’t decide what to wear either. We opted for a crisp, clean white shirt, classic classroom chic. A cute clutch and our iPad and we’re good to go, whatever the weather.
To celebrate the launch of the new pop up Chanel beauty boutique in Covent Garden, Victoria Beckham jumped on the train to..erm… The Chanel HQ in Paris.
the airport train station is my runway.
Has she ever looked so good? Well obv I’m a super fan and Posh has more haters than handbags but I do think she looks great. And why? Is it the amazing simplicity of her outfit?
Or it could have something to do with the fab croc bag…
Or maybe it’s simply because she’s at Chanel. Dur!
