Just touched down in Londontown!
What a wild weekend.
Yesterday we took the wedding train to… The north.
And today we took the hangover express back to London.
Somewhere in the middle was an amazing wedding. In an amazing venue. With amazing people. And amazing food (and a lot of amazing wine and champagne to wash it down with). Followed by some amazing throwing of shapes. Some amazing fireworks and…. Then it gets a bit blurry. A bit more amazing wine and possibly some less amazing dancing?
I was toasted!
So now it’s time for me to toast the groom and groom, to Piers and Will!

The Last Wild (Weekend)

Okay here she’s just posing with it. But mainly, I’m reading it.
Me and Mr F and the divine Lizzie Roper are on our way to the author’s wedding.
It’s difficult to read as they keep being hilarious.
That and the tunnels….
It’s called The Last Wild.
It’s ever so good.
Which is a good job.
Tunnel.
I always think it’s a bit awk if you don’t like someone’s work. Especially if you’re en route to their wedding.
But I do.
I’m gripped.
It’s for kids apparently but as a grown up, albeit one who plays with dolls, I’m hooked.
Not much swearing which I like.
Lots of animals.
They can talk. Which I like.
Anyway I can’t sit here chatting to you about it, I have to finish before we get there.

Anyone who is anyone is jetting into Nice airport this week for the Festival de Cannes.
You know me (and Victoria B) and the dolls; the airport is our runway. So here we are. All dressed up, with somewhere to go?

Wet Wet Wet

It’s p*ssing down.
The Côte d’Azur is currently the Côte de Gris.
It is so wet and so horrible. It can mean only one thing… Must be the start of Cannes Film Festival!
Did you see the little wet faces on the red carpet last night on La Croisette.
The premiere of the Wet Gatsby.

Mine, by the way, was taken by the fantastic Annabelle Moller. A photoshoot where we got almost as wet as Leo DiCaprio.
What about the lovely Carey Mulligan?

How old is she?
Do you know?
I always thought she was a kid.
But every time I have seen her promoting this movie I have thought, woah, gurl you is ooooooold. Well you know. Older than me. She’s gotta be older than me, right?
I’d guess 32 in this picture.
This picture says one thing, right?

I wiki’d her. She is 28 in a few weeks. I’m 30 in a few weeks and look way younger.
Without a Dior gown.
Or an umbrella.
Anyway. This is the last Gatsby post. (*spoiler alert* Mulligan is featured in tomorrow’s BOTD.) Well until I see the movie.

Gatsby Fever

And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.

Summer is here! HERE!
I love London. It’s on all the time.
There is always something happening.
Somewhere.
With someone.
Less so here on the Côte d’Azur.
Until now that is.
May.
The party month on the Med.
The Festival de Cannes begins today and with the Monaco Grand Prix just around the corner, here suddenly feels the place to be.
The opening movie is the Great Gatsby. It will be big news whether the critics like it or not. But it doesn’t really matter. It’s all about the parties, right?
I spoke yesterday of my Gatsby excitement….
Shall we look at some posters?

Amazing!
The frock.

The flappability!

The winner, clearly. A Bob Mackie design. Full of movement. Full of life. Stupidly expensive looking. Faboosh!

Back to Black (part 38)

So I’m quite excited about the Great Gatsby.
It may have had shiteous reviews but whatevs, it looks pretty.
I’m the only person I know who quite liked the book. Mr F has been reading it for about three years and cannot finish it. “Nothing happens!!”
On a Luhrmann front…
He hated Romeo and Juliet.
I loved it.
He loved Moulin Rouge.
I hated it. (I know I might be alone on that one but it is just not good enough-but ha! It works omy own argument of it looking pretty. And at least Nicole Kidman dies it which has gotta be worth something. *spoiler alert* Nicole Kidman dies. Ha ha I crack myself up.)
Strictly Ballroom. Now that’s a movie!
I don’t think he saw it. It was pre us, before his life had been culturally enriched by my presence with things like Devil Wears Prada and tailoring.
Anyway….
I may be excited but that doesn’t mean I’m about to start giving the dolls 1920s bobs… Yet.
Instead let’s talk about the quite frankly, amazeballs soundtrack.
Much has been said about Beyoncé covering Winehouse.
The problem with the track is really the presence of Andre 3000. His noise gets right on my wires. It’s been a long time nice Hey Ya hasn’t it, Mr 3000?
B sounds fine.
But… Would look much better with an Amy makeover…

Spring Clean

Back to Black (part 37)

And so to work…
No bank holiday for us, here in France… Well we had ours last Wednesday… And another one this Wednesday… And one on Thursday in Monaco… But you know. We all work really hard!
It may be sunny outside but the dolls have got on their Monday best, to start the week properly at BOTD Towers.
Office chic doesn’t have to be boring but somehow the dolls have stepped away from their usual slutty funeral chic and opted for something… Well a bit too sensible. Obviously not one of them thought to put their hair up but even so. I might have to insist on Bikini Tuesday tomorrow.

I am known ~~all the time~~ now and then to slag off the beautiful slice of paradise in which I spend a big chunk of the year, for being something of a cultural void.
(I’m back in France by the way.)
But whoa! Tie me to a Provençal market and call me Jean Baptiste! Villefranche Sur Mer is experiencing a major (agri)cultural event this weekend.

The dolls are rocking some Spring chic…

…and along with the basil and rosemary I bought in Italy this week, I’m feeling very green fingered.
A bit of colour blocking. A splash of (bang on trend) citrus coloured soucis-can’t think of the English.
It is what the garden at BOTD Towers is crying out for.
