Toot toot. Aaah. Beep beep.
Considering BOTD Towers is full of Bad Girls who Work Hard for the Money, it’s a sad day here as we say goodbye to Donna Summer. But No More Tears, enough, really is enough. We will seek solace On The Radio listening to her greatest hits and having one Last Dance.
Cannes-tastic

Diane Kruger has some front… And back… But no sides. Laughing so hard at her appearance in Cannes her sides have split. Quite literally. Diane shone in a gorgeous plummy Versus number on the Croisette. She does seem to get it right every time doesn’t she? I couldn’t say that I can name her greatest movies but I could certainly list a dozen dresses and occasions where she has looked unbelievably beautiful.
Meanwhile… Eva Longoria has some front… Showing up to Cannes without a film career. We’ll let her off as she did bring some serious back in Marchesa.
Because I Cannes

Cheers!
We’re celebrating the start of the Festival de Cannes today, with a flashback to when I first moved to the Côte d’Azur five years ago.
Ah, the meeting of great minds. Picture the scene… Fabulous food. Fabulous fizz. Fabulous fashion and fabulous footwear.

The event; the Soho House party in Cannes. The location; a Grey Goose sponsored sofa. The guests on this particular sofa; aside from the unformed BOTD (I believe I was fertilised at this party) Chrissy Iley, the gorgeous Jason Solomons and…. Beauty and the Dirt! The beginnings of a beautiful friendship. Five years! We were surely just teenagers. I’m not sure if I was even blonde… and certainly not as blonde as this.

That’s me on the right with the big hair and slutty dress (go figure). Beauty and the Dirt on the left (in the slingbacks she chose for her BOTD appearance).
I love the Cannes Film Festival. The world suddenly descends on the South of France and it marks the true start of the season here. For all the boutique openings and mascara launches I might miss by not living in London, this week the focus shifts and the Côte d’Azur becomes the centre of the world. And you never know who you might meet!
An H&M Update
You will of course remember our Marni Mania when we took our petit chihuahua to the H&M launch of their collaboration with the Italian label. And super fans will probably remember the Lanvin Loving for that unforgettable partnership (where Halloween also featured).
Well with the news that the high street giant have announced a new joint venture with the fantabulous Anna Dello Russo we thought we should update you on our previous purchases.
My Lanvin cream tuxedo remains one of my favourite items in my wardrobe despite its shocking price-per-wear tag. This t-shirt, however, still hasn’t been worn!

Since November 2010!!! I’m surprised the moths haven’t had it for two consecutive Christmas dinners. Mmm sparkles. My other half hates it so it’s still on the hanger. Lonely.
And as for Marni?

Well they didn’t give me this suit bag for the sunglasses (which are amazing!) but the outfit inside… Well I think I was high on the smell of people being crushed. That and I thought for a second that I was BryanBoy or the gorgeous DapperLou…
But this is what Halloween thought…
Ouch!
So the ensemble was returned and my card was credited. What to spend such “free money” on? Well dur… We obviously hit eBay hard. But instead of the usual search (thigh boots/ Barbie Louboutin/Miniature Chanel/Barbie Basics) I treated myself to something from a collection I missed.
The Versace collection launched when I was in the States on the BOTD USA tour. The day the collection was released I was in the desert near Palm Springs and Donatella was (for once) the last thing on my mind. Click click click and ta dah. A crazy Escher-esque geometric Versace for H&M t-shirt was mine. My other half hates this one too but I think my friend Kathy will love it as much as Beyoncé does…
The Cannes Plan(nes)

Starting the week with a fashion dilemma. The Festival de Cannes starts on Wednesday and BOTD Towers is upside down as the dolls are picking out their outfits for all the red carpet madness ahead. Madison’s hair looks a little cray-cray but I’m loving the Monday morning office chic. As my friend Rudyard Kipling used to say to me…
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on Cannes…..
Greece is the Word
Why can’t we all just get along?
It’s a big day for Greece today and the dolls are feeling Coalicious. Following last Sunday’s elections with no majority, everyone has to be extra friendly with everyone else to help form a coalition. Not always super easy.
What? That’s it? That’s today’s BOTD? What about the dancing dog from Britain’s Got Talent? Well while Pudsey is super cute, what happens to him this weekend will probably have a lot let influence over the rest of Europe and the global economy. Just sayin.
L.O.L

Bringing the LOLz this morning is hack-tastic, Rebekah Brooks. OMG! Following her appearance at the the Leveson Inquiry we now all know how the PM, DC signed off his texts. While it may have left us all ROFLing, what we really need to talk about is that Peter Pan collar. She may have been treated differently, were she a “grumpy old man of Fleet Street” but WTF? What about if she was dressed as a Quaker? The innocent court chic might be fooling some but look closer at the hair and her true character is revealed.
Hotter Than Hot
Later than usual this year, today it finally feels like the right time to get the pins out. Nope not hairpins or safety pins. Legs, silly! Shorts at last! It finally feels like summer here on the Côte d’Azur. I think I even saw some sunburn yesterday, silly rabbits. Amber is keeping it pale and interesting with sky high nude heels and a micro mini tweed dress. Might there be a bikini under it?
So Long Sassoon
My first “posh haircut” was at Vidal Sassoon in Leeds. Ah those heady, modelling days of blunt fringes and aubergine lowlights. Alas it was the 90s, a time before cameras existed so you will be spared the gorgeousness of it all. I was quite sad to hear of Vidal Sassoon’s death (despite my fringe). It always takes a death to realise how prolific someone has been.
I was fortunate enough to have downloaded the podcast of Sassoon’s appearance on the BBC’s Desert Island Discs last year, just before Christmas. I listened and chuckled and sang along in the bath in Egypt. That and the fringe will be my main memories of Vidal Sassoon. You can listen (and chuckle) by clicking here. In his honour I have given Grace a brutal crop. Brutal but beautiful thanks to her amazing bone structure. Brutiful!
But What About Amber?
You thought it was just Beyoncé bringing the booty to the Met Ball on Monday night? Well Amber decided to get in on the act… Scroll down for our Met’s Best Dressed. Try saying that, full of Martini.
